Bilateral work consultations of Lithuania and Belarus held in Minsk

On December 4 a delegation led by Robertas Šapronas, Defence Policy Director of the Ministry of National Defence, took part in bilateral work consultations in Minsk , met with Chief of the International Military Cooperation Department, Assistant to the Defence Minister for Foreign Military Policy Maj Gen Oleg Voinov.

Heavy duty trucks to enter service with the Lithuanian Armed Forces

The first four of the ZETROS 3643 tractor trucks with trailers, manufactured by German company Daimler AG, have been handed over to the Depot Storage Service of the Lithuanian Armed Forces as part of the ongoing modernisation and updating of the Lithuanian military vehicle fleet. Four more identical trucks with trailers will be delivered in 2020. Lithuania is the first of the three Baltic states to acquire the enhanced off-road capacity heavy duty trucks with trailers for transporting its self-propelled artillery howitzers and armoured recovery vehicles.

Plans for three Control and Reporting Centres in Baltic Region to Enhance NATO Air Posture

The scheduled re-structure of the Baltic Air Surveillance Network or BALTNET will see the activation of three national Control and Reporting Centres (CRC) in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. This allows for improved capabilities and interoperability of NATO’s Integrated Air and Missile Defence System in the region to help safeguard Allied airspace.

NATO Leaders' Declaration

On December 3- 4 Minister of National Defence Raimundas Karoblis is taking part in the NATO Leaders’ Meeting in London in the delegation of President of the Republic of Lithuania Gitanas Nausėda. The NATO Leaders are addressing the way ahead for the processes of the NATO adaptation to the rapidly changing security environment, the threats and challenges to the transatlantic security, the importance of fulfilling the defence spending commitments and fair burden-sharing , while strengthening the NATO ability to face security threats.

NATO Day in the Region events continue – NATO soldiers in Lithuania are inviting to meet in Kėdainiai

On November 28 soldiers of the NATO allies deployed in Lithuania will hold a community engagement event in Kėdainiai. It will be one of the meetings with the allied troops in Lithuania in the “NATO Day in the Region: Come, See, and Learn!” cycle of events, held for the NATO soldiers to get to know Lithuanian people in the region, tell about their mission and activities in Lithuania, remind what NATO is, what its goals are and what the importance of NATO membership to Lithuania is. NATO event in the region is organised to commemorate the 70th NATO anniversary and the 15th Lithuania’s anniversary in NATO.
