Gun handling and firing courses for Afghan policeman in Ghowr


On January 11 gun handling and firing course arranged for Ghowr policemen by Lithuanian led PRT-4 in Chaghcharan was closed. PRT-4 Commander Col. A.Leika congratulated the policemen that passed the course and awarded them graduation certificates.

The main objective of the courses already attended by about 40 Ghowr policemen is to enhance their professional skills and raise confidence of the locals in police activity.

During the course the attendees learnt the requirements of safe automatic gun handling and keeping, improved their individual firing from various positions skills. In the end of the courses the attendees proved their proficiency by theory test and practice assignment.

According to the organisers, until the end of the fourth PRT shift gun handling and firing course should be attended by about 80 percent of Ghowr policemen.

Soldiers of Lithuanian led PRT have been cooperating with police of Ghowr since the beginning of mission in 2005. Since October 2005 PRT includes Lithuanian police officer as advisor on police issues.
